Edison, the world-famed inventor, AA'on’t_ allow his staff to smoko cigarette.! in his workshops and laboratories, although he offers no objection to pipes. Perhaps it is his personal preference for the pipe that is accountable for this. A pipe is certainly a great help when the mind is closely occupied in trying to solve some tough problem. There is something peculiarly soothing (and yet mentally stimulating) in a pine, that other forms of smoking fail to give. But the tobacco must be carefully selected. Brands rich in nicotine will do more harm than good. The best tobaccos for brain-Avorkers (and manual Avorkers too) are our beautiful Now Zealand goods. Almost free from nicotine, they may be smoked unsparingly. They won’t hurt anybodw They owe their Avonderful puritv largely to the toasting of the leaf, which process also accounts for their exquisite flavour and aroma. There are several brands, favourites being: “River head Gold” (mild aromatic): “Cavendish” (a delightful smoke of medium strength) ; “Navy Cut No. 3” (another fine medium), and “Cut Plug No. 10” (a rich, dark, full-strength tobacco). ...
