WINTER SHOW. The annual meeting of the Waimate Winter Show Association and Poultry Society was held on Wednesday evening. In his annual report the president thanked members for their great assistance during the year, especially Messrs J. Betten, J. Johns, and J. Hutt for the great amount of work they had put in at the Show. Thanks were also due to Mesdames J. Betten and L. Betten, the lady stewards. The balance sheet showed a slight increase again this year, notwithstanding that on the first night of the Show the attendance had been small owing to very unfavourable weather conditions prevailing. The takings on that night decreased by about £B. The classes were all well filled, especially the Winter Show section, which showed little profit. The section was, however, a good draw. Considering that Timaru and Temuka did not hold a show last year the Association must congratulate itself on sticking together and making the Show the success it was. The balance-sheet showed that receipts for the past financial year amounted to £l7l 12s, and expenditure to £l6B 10s 7cl. It was decided to hold all the succeeding annual meetings of the so- I ciety in September, so as to give time to consider the remits for the confer- I ences in November. It was decided to endeavour to obtain the Minorca championship, instead of the Tumbler pigeon championship allotted, and the Buff-Nor- < wich canary championship instead of j the one already allotted. The election of officers resulted— | President, Mr W. Chamberlain; vice- | presidents, Messrs J. Johns, H. Allington, F ; Pollock, C. Creba, and E. C. d’Auvergne; secretary, Mr W. F. George; treasurer, Mr C. Coventry. It was resolved that all sick and dirty birds be excluded from the show. BOWLING. The Bristol Cup match, Waimate v. Geraldine, was played on the Waimate green, yesterday, in showery weather. It resulted in a win for Waimate by 148 to 145.
