THE WEATHER.
Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind fresh south to south-east; weather cold, with further rain at times. Dominion Meteorologist. A cyclone of rather slight intensity was centred at 4 p.m. oyer the northern part of the South Island, and was moving slowly eastward. A second cyclone was located in Bass Strait, and pressure is low generally over tho Australian area. Expect moderate to strong northerly winds north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, bucking gradually to southerly; elsewhere moderate to fresh northerly winds. Seas rather rough in New Zealand waters. Weather still unsettled, with further rain, but a temporary improvement soon. Cool temperatures, with frosts in Canterbury and Otago. Snow on the ranges of the South Island.
