The secretary’s action was approved, and a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Brady, Scott and Palliser, was set up to work in with the correspondent, and report to next meeting. . GENERAL. Speaking in regard to the question of advertising placards, displayed on country- roads, Mr Brady said there were several such hoardings near Timaru, placed in such positions as to make them positively dangerous. A motorist could not afford to have his attention distracted for any space of time. He was of opinion that a united effort should be made to have them abolished altogether. The chairman agreed with Mr Brady. The hoardings were often the cause of accidents. The corner at the junction of the Teniuka and Fairlie roads, at Washdvke, was one of the most dangerous. The. secretary stated that application had been made bv the St. John Ambulance, for the supply of 40 cars, to take visitors to the Ambulance competitions, for a run on Sunday. The notice was rather short, and as the week-end was a holiday, it would be difficult to supply the cars. It was decided to advertise, in an effort to secure the cars.
