The Timaru Harbour Commission completed the hearing of evidence vestordav, when Mr W. I. Tait (president of the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce), was heard. It is expected that the Commission will remain in Timaru to prepare their report, which will be forwarded to the Governor-General.
The Government Publicity Department sent a cinematographer to Timaru yesterday, a - nd the operator obtained several pictures of the Jubilee celebrations, including one of the big procession and one of the early pioneers as they made their way into the luncheon at Caroline Pay Hall.
At the annual meeting of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., in Wellington yesterday, a net profit for the year of £21,331 was reported. With £18,839 carried forward, £140,170 was available for appropriation. An interim dividend of 5 per cent, was paid in September last, and a further 5 per cent, -was agreed to.
