Mr H. Neville Smith left Timaru on his return to Sydney yesterday. Mr B. R. Sword, District Traffic Manager, New Zealand Railways, is at present in Timaru. The South Canterbury Members of Parliament, Hon. F. J. Rolleston (Attorney-General), Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P for Temuka, and Mr J. Bitehener, M.P. for Waitaki, will arrive in Timaru to attend the Jubilee celebrations. ...
At last night’s meeting of the Timaru Main School Committee, opportunity was taken by the chairman of the committee (Mr G. W. Preen) to welcome the school’s new headmaster (Mr W. W. Garton) to his first School Committee meeting. In doing so, Mr Preen said he was snre he was voicing the opinion of the committee when he wished.Mr Garten a prosperous and happy stay in Timaru and at the Main School. In reply, Mr Garton thanked Mr Preen for his welcome. He hoped his deliberations with the committee would always be of an amicable nature.
