MR ARCHER’S MESSAGE.
CONGRATULATIONS AND GREETINGS. TIMARU BOROUGH JUBILEE. (Special to the “Herald.”) CHRISTCHURCH, July 11. • The Mayor of Christchurch (Rev. Archer) has addressed the following message to the citizens of Timaru on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the Borough:— “Christchurch, as your biggest near.i;neighbour, sends you hearty congratulations and greetings on the attainment of your Diamond Jubilee. Your past is one of which you may well ?• jbe~ proud. Given wise and ambitious leadership, your future will carry you far. Your town ?s beautifully situated, and hy means of the' sea in front, fertile farming land behind, and the wonderful background of the Southern Alps, is richly endowed with Nature’s work-. “We seem to be very largely tied up to -1 extension of our secondary industries for further development, but you can secure all the material advance you require for many years to come, by intensive and extensive utilisation of Nature’s resources. The.greater your growth, the greau>i will.be our satisfaction, and we trust that ns the years go by our friendly relationship will expand. J. K. ARCHER, Mayor of Christchurch.”
