Fraser, Selwyn Street, has returned from a visit to Mr and Mrs C. L. Fraser, Temuka. Misess Joyce and Enid Edgar-Jones, “Otiritiri,”' will leave to-day for Tekapo. Mr and Mrs AV. T. Ritchie, Te Tawa, have returned from Dunedin. Miss Carslake, who is their guest, will leave shortly for Mt. Cook. The Misses Baird, Scotland, who have been staying with Mrs H. Elworthy, “Craigmorc,” left yesterday for Christchurch. Mrs Malfroy and her daughter, Mrs W. D. Revell, were the joint hostesses at a very enjoyable bridge-party, which was held in the Ladies’ Club Rooms last night. Mrs Mackenzie'wore a black georgette,, frock,' beaded inshaded sequins and steel beads. HOOK SPINSTERS’ AND BACHELORS’ BALL.

The Soldiers' Alemoriai Hall .at Hook on Thursday evening, presented a carnival appearance, being filled with a merry throng of dancers, and tastefully decorated with jade, amber and salmon streamers. Air Cyril Rose was in charge of the floor. Great praise was given to Aliss Glubb and Air S. Ratligon, the secretaries, for the success of the ball. A novel feature was introduced by streamer and confetti dances, the confetti being hung in fancy baskets from the ceiling, and forming part of f -cheme of tile decorations.

ST. JOHN’S TENNIS CLUB DANCE

The annual dance of St. John’s Tennis Club was held in St. Patrick's Hall last .Tuesday evening, and was a great success. The hall was tastefully decorated with evergreens, various - coloured streamers and balloons, and ijresented a very gay scene.- The-supper-room was • daintily decorated witti tree ferns and autumn leaves.
