The following awards were made, by tlio. directors of the Royal Human© Society yesterday:— James Lindsay Mehalski, a school boy, aged 14, wlio attempted to rescue another boy from drowning. In the case of Kauwhata Hercaka, aged 23 years, who rescued a hoy from drowning at Lake Taupo on January 8, 1928, the committee was of Hi© opinion that the circumstances , were such that a bronze medal be awaided. A ‘riiotion to that effect was carried. Certificates of merit were awarded to Morrell Rowe, of Rongotea, and Grace E. Rowe, of Palmerston North, who rescued two young women from drowning at Tangimoana on January 25, 1928. A certificate was also awarded to George Justin. Walker,' aged 14 years of Remuera, Auckland, who attempted to rescue his father from drowning in the Tongariro river on February 2, 1928. Arthur John Ellings, of Wanganui, was awarded a certificate of merit for attempting to rescue a schoolboy, aged-10 years, from drowning at Patea bridge on December 26. 1927. , It was decided to forward an in momoriam certificate to the relatives of the late Mr Percy White, formerly of Onehunga, who died while attempting to rescue a boy from drowning in Manukau Harbour on January 30, 1928.

A certificate of merit was awarded to Miss Vida. Weir, of Bluff, for res-; cuing a man from drowning at Bluff on February 4, 1928.
