SHANGHAI, April 29 A lull in the fighting at Shantung is explained by the fact that the rushing up of reinforcements from Manchuria has enabled General Sun-Chuan-Fanjt to reassemble the defeated troops f‘ ir the recapture of Tsinntain. • He will offer a strong resistance to the Southern advance, on which General Feng-Yu-Hsiana and General Chian-Kai-Shek are conferring with General Eafang, as to the' best means to carry on the campaign. Foreign military observers state that the Southerners are definitely checked in Shantung, while they are also fighting a losing campaign along the Pekin-Rankow railway.
