SOME THRILLING EPISODES.
(United Press Association—-By Eiectrio Telegraph—Copyright.) BRISBANE, April 30. Rockhampton survivors’ stories, which mention miraculous escape* during the floods, make thrilling reading. Two Greeks in the cotton area, were so desperate, fearing drowning or starvation that they had arranged to shoot .themselves when they were swept into a tree and marooned there till the waters subsided. /• A 1 Aettjer’s baby was caught on a t>arb'e<i wire fence and held there till saved. A family named Ball, at Wowan, took refuge in trees. The death cries of stock, poultry and domestic animals were pitiable. Thousands of snakes of all sorts were drowned, and the cotton crops were ruined.
