Mr and Mrs Bernard Tripp, Orielton, have returned from Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Sinclair-Thompson are expected at the Bungalow to-day. Mrs W. H. Orbell, Levels, and Mrs C. L. Orbell, Pentlow, are expected back from Christchurch to-day. Miss Lee, who has been spending a holiday at Arthur’s Pass, has returned to Timaru. Mrs Neilson and Miss Islip, Elizabeth Street, who have been staying in Dunedin, returned home on Saturday. . , , . ■ . The Misses Herbert, Auckland, have returned from the Hermitage, and are staying at “Kelso.” Mr and Mrs Ibbotson, who have been spending the holidays here, ipotored back to Dunedin on Sunday. Mr and Mrs Ivor Bristol and their family have returned to Stew Point from Sumner.

Dr. and Mrs Marshall MacDonald and their family,' have returned to Dunedin after a stay in Temuka. Mrs William Raymond and her family, Nile Street, have returned from their farm at Pleasant Point. Mrs R. L. Wigley and her family, Highfield, have returned from the Hermitage. Mr AV. England, Christchurch, is visiting" Mr and Mrs AV. Hopeweil Budd, Preston Street. Miss Melva AVatson, Menvale, Christchurch, is visiting her aunt, Mrs W. Hopewell Budd, Preston Street. Mr and Mrs Alex lamb and family, Trafalgar Street, have returned from a holiday snent in Christchurch. Miss Doris Meyer, “Highway,” Hook, is staying a few days with Miss Maisie Martin, at “The Grange.” Mrs J. Lynch and Misses O’Meeghan, motored to Omarama for the week-end.

Mr and Mrs F. M. Dennehy, who have been visiting friends in Timaru, have returned to the West Coast.'

Mrs J. Forbes and her children, who have been staying with Mrs G. P. Wood, AVai-iti Road, will return to Waiuku. Auckland, to-day.

Miss F. M. Browne, of the staff of the Kowhai Junior High School, Auckland, left by Monday’s express en route for Auckland, after spending her holidays in Canterbury and the \Vest Coast. jiicnaeacon and Mrs Hansell and the Misses Hansell, who have been staying, with Mrs A. S. Elworthy, Holme Station, returned last week to Wellington. Mrs Derek Gould, Christchurch, who was at Holme Station, has also returned home.

‘Miss Asta Crowe, eldest daughter of the late Sir Eyre Crowe, is private secretary to Sir Colville Barclay, British Minister at Budapest. ; Miss Cynthia Seymour, now Lady Milne Cheetham, wife of the British Minister at Copenhagen, was for some time after the war private secretary to Sir George Clerk at Prague. Several other women have held or are holding positions as private secretaries in Legations, including Miss Irene Boyle, who is with Sir Ronald Lindsay in Berlin. These ladies, however, are not members of the diplomatic service, although they enjoy certain diplomatic privileges. The United States and Bulgaria have appointed women as official diplomats, but so far Britain has not opened the ranks of the service to our sex.
