The, Port Caroline, which put into port on-Saturday afternoon, completed operations here last evening, and sailed for New Plymouth. She loaded meat and dairy produce at this port. She is. to ■ sail finally from Wellington, for' London, on February ,15. The Opihi should arrive to-day from the south. She will probably sail later in the day, via Lyttelton, taking Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth • general cargo. _ . The Progress also is scheduled to arrive to-day, from .Oamaru. She is on the Wellington, New Plymouth and ... Waikato Heads run, and should depart for these ports, via Lyttelton. The Corinna, from Oamaru, has been , put back till to-morrow. Her northern ports of call will be Wellington, .Nelson and New Plymouth. The inter-colonial steamer Waikouaiti has been speeded . up, and _ will probably arrive to-morrow. She is to discharge portion of her cargo from . Australian ports, and then sail for Sydney. With the Westralia in tow, the former interstate steamer Inga left Sydney recently for Rabaul —a 2000- ' mile journey. She will leave the Westralia there, to be used as a storage hulk for copra, and then continue to the Solomon Islands, to enter the copra trade.. Both vessels were bought " in Sydney recently by: W.. R. Carpenter and Co., Ltd., the Westralia from Huddart, Parker, Ltd., and the Inga from James Patrick and Co. The engines have been removed from the former vessel, and she is now lying,in Kerosene Bay. Seven It),000-ton steamers are to be built by the Nippon Yusen Kaisha under the company’s five-year term construction programme. Three of the vessels are to be freighters for operation out of either Seattle or San Francisco. Two others are to be passenger liners for service between Japan and Europe. Another will be. a freighter, for the Yokohama-East Coast of South America Line, and another will be a passenger and cargo - steamer for the Shahghai-Japan trade. The new pro- ■ gramme is in addition to the three motor ships being built fy the transpacific service out of San Francisco. 'All of the vessels are to be completed by 1932.
