Tlie Dannevirke Hunt Club’s annual meeting was held to-day in beautiful weather, the course being in good condition, and the attendance . up to the average/ The totalisator handled £8657, compared, with £8331 for the corresponding meeting last year. In the Oringi Hack Hurdles, Arataura fell at the second fence and broke his neck. As a result, his rider, H. WELLINGTON, Sept. 15. The annual meeting of the Wellington Racing Club was held to-day, Mr J. B. Harcourt presiding. The president expressed satisfaction at the successful year, the nett profit being £6435/12/8 for five meetings (an extra meeting being granted for the American Fleet’s ' visit). Stakes paid amounted to £38,610, compared with £43,900 in the previous year. Taxes paid to the Government amounted to £41,583 6s lid. Totalisator receipts were £51.893/18/7, compared with £61,197/19/7 for 1926; gates and railway receipts were £15,800/5/6, a decrease of £2679/10/1; and privileges £5300/S/7, an increase of £2792/7/7. 1
