HOCKEY.
MATCHES AT WINCHESTER. On Wednesday afternoon the Winch t ter Ladies’ Hockey Club played a match against the Wailii schoolboys. The latter who proved too strong for the girls, scored 9 goals to 2. The ladies’ hockey game between Winchester and Kiwi played at Winchester. resulted in a win for the home team, Winchester scoring 6 goals, and Kiwi failed to improve on their 3 goals handicap. Mr W.. E. Cook, Orari, was referee.
TEAM FOR AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 4. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association the following team was selected to tour Australia: Coal—T. Brennan (Wellington). Backs —A. Mahoney (Canterbury), L. Spiers (Waipu). Halves—H. G. Hore and B. Morris (Canterbury), and W. L.'Bennin (Wairarapa). Forwards —H. Hookham, A. Seccombe, C. Watts (Auckland), S. N. Bell (Canterbury, vice-captain), N. Edson (Otago), H. Lusty (Wellington, capt.), G. J. Spiers (Waipu), and one other be selected. Mr W. Williamson (Christchurch) was appointed manager.
