AUCKLAND, April 8. An employee of the General Omnibus Company, Edward Thomas Gibson, had a terrifying experience at It) o'clock last night at the New Lynn railway crossing. Seeing a passenger train a few feet, ahead he applied the brakes, but hit the engine amidships. Gibson fell from the. driver’s seat, and on to the bus, but his sole passenger, Air T. R. George, seized him by the : legs, and prevented him from falling I under the wheels of tho train. Fortun- : ately, the train was pulling up preparatory to settling down passengers. DUNEDIN, April 8. was passing Green island at I.U'J this morning, the axle of a waggon broke, causing the derailment of eleven trucks laden with coal and wood. A breakdown train arrived an hour later. Some of the waggons were badly damaged and their contents scattered all over the track. No one was injured. MOTOR COLLISION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Alfred Little (J2), married, with live children, succumbed last night to injuries received through being run over by a drill, when the horses he was working at AVaitetuna, got out of control. Tutu Kingi died at AVaikato Hospital this morning through burns sustained in : an explosion of tar from a boiler at Butaruru earlier in the week
