Unofficial but authoritative reports here to-day stated that the Foreign Diplomatic Corps in Peking are expected to protest to tlio local authorities against the unauthorised invasion of Iho Russian Legation, guard and compound in connection with an authorised Chinese raid on adjoining private Russian property. The State Department has announced iha.t the Senior Minister, on behalf of the Diplomatic Quarter, authorised the Chinese authorities to search, on April 6, the property of the Russian Dahl Bank and the Russian Eastern Chinese Railway premises but gave no authorisation. lor a raid on tho adjacent compound.
