MONTHLY MEETING
There were present at the March meeting of the Workers’ Educational Association—Mr Jones (m the chair), Mrs Low, Messrs Rudge, Bowkctt, Cliffin. and Griffiths. Satisfaction was expressed by the Council on Air Manning stating in correspondence, that Timaru would have representation at the next Doi minion • Conference if- they-so desired, j Mr Stewart reported that Mr [Thomas, of the Boys’ High School, [would give in June, a short lecture en--1 titled ‘‘The Bdy : ‘ in History,” concluding with a playette by some of the boys. Notification was received from the ! Timaru branch of the Carpenters’ | Union, appointing Mr Bowkctt as delegate. Complimentary remarks were made to the leading article which appeared in the “Herald” a few' days previously. Accounts amounting to £4 2s 6d were passed for payment. Mr Bowkctt was elected to a viced presidency which had been rendered vacant. " The secretary reported that the Week-end School had been very successful, and should help the classes along considerably. Mr Johnson’s lecture was very interesting, and Professor Shelley’s instructive lecture and dramatic reading had filled the Y.M.C.A. Hall. The Lecture Committee had a good programme drawn up for the winter, and would submit a full report to next meeting.
