It was felt that the increasing interest in the game compensated for any drawback due to professionalism. It was admitted that Mdlle Lenglen had been a big amateur attraction, but speakers pointed out that others will take her place as stars. Eventually each nakon was loft to deal, with the question within its own territory, though it was generally opined that the definition of “amateur” should be limited rather than enlarged. Tho South African representative proposed that journalistic activities by those concerned and broadcasted should be barred in the case of the four big tournaments—England, Australia, America and Franco,
