POISON IN ALCOHOL.

AMERICAN PLANS MODIFIED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. WASHINGTON, March 16. The new denaturing of alcohol formula substituting aldehol for pyridine, will become effective on April 1. The charge eliminates a, deadly poison, and inserts a liquid absolutely undrinkable. Dr. Doran, chief prohibition chemist, said: ‘'Aldehol is oxidised or burned kerosene oil, having a smell similar to the fumes from an automobile exhaust, with a too rich oiil; mixture. The taste is very nauseating. Persons who attempt to drink liquor containing aldehol will be violently sick in the stomach, but will suffer no serious after effects unless it is taken in huge quantities.” Officials declared that bootleggers have already engaged expert chemists to discover if aldehol can be eliminated from alcohol.
