VITAL INFORMATION CONCEALED, By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March IC, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 15. Nurse McCarthy is distraught in consequence of the ordeal she is undergoing in connection with the Daniels investigation. It is reported that Nurse McCarthy lias entered a London hospital. The examining Magistrate had officially requested that she should go to Boulogne on Friday.
Newspaper correspondents, both in English and French, are giving long accounts of the proceedings. The Boulogne correspondent of the- “ Daily Express” says that investigations have now reached a stage where it is possible to say definitely that vital information is being concealed by persons in Boulogne. Miss Daniels spent at least one night in Boulogne, yet nobody can be found who will say where. There is good reason to believe that she was taken to one or other of the small cafes, which are the rendezvous of the lowest criminals.
The police point out that elaborate precautions will he taken to (shield Nurse McCarthy from publicity, and everything will be done to spare her feelings if she goes to Boulogne. FRENCH VERSION OF CRIME. MURDER IN BOULOGNE HOUSE. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March 16, 7.55 p.m.) LONDON, March 16. The, latest theory rs that Miss May Daniels did not die cn the spot where the body was found, but at a house in Boulogne. The body was afterwords taken to Napoleon Column, probably in a motor car, and a that her umbrella was placed beside nearby, as a blind. It is also regarded as significant Uuii. her umhrellal was placed beside her, the wrong wayl round, with the handle downwards, which a woman i.s not likpiv to do.
Further reports state that the French police do not believe she was ever lost. They believe she left Nurse McCarthy for the purpose- of keeping an appointment, of which Nui.se McCarthy was ignorant, with an Englishman, whose identity is stated to be suspected.
