Wheat. —The market is depressed, 4/71 being offered at country stations , equal to 5/2J, on trucks in Svdney. Flour, £l3. Maize, S/2 to S/3. Potatoes, Tasmanian, £l9 to £2O; Victorian £IS. Onions, £9. ADELAIDE, January 20. Wheat, growers' lots 5/li to 5/2. Parcels 5/31. Oats, 2/4 to 2/G.

THE LOCAL MARKETS. There is a continuation of quietness in the local grain and produce markets as far as shipping business is concerned, but in some parts iarmors are busy cutting earlv oats, and it is expected that the wheat harvest wilt commence in about a week. North Canterbury reports that a few crops have been harvested, and cutting will be in full swing there next week. Very little has been done locally with wheat during the week, and prices are about the same as last week. Most millers are fairly bare of wheat stocks, and it is expected that the first lew deliveries will be worth 5s fid to 6s, (ii trucks, sacks extra. after which no doubt, values will settle down to 5s 6d. Oats are still the same, sales having been made for delivery spread over the year at 3s f.0.b., s.i-., lor B grade, equal to about 2s Id, on trucks, to farmers, sacks extra, while A grades are estimated at 2d to 3d more.

Chaff lias boon quoted at £5 ]os f.0.b., s.i., equal to £3 10s on trucks. This price is not considered attractive by local growers. The potato crops have improved considerably during the last few weeks, and it is expected that the yield will be well up to the average, if nothing interferes. The forward market has eased back, and sales have been ipnde at £-t 15, 5, f.0.b., s.i., equal to about £3 15s. on trucks, to farmers, during the main digging months. The crops are all looking very well, although it is not impossible for blight, to develop about February, which is the month when blight may be expected. The prospects for ryegrass are not very bright, as the prices have not been an encouragement to its production. It is not expected that much ryegrass will be threshed this year. One sale has been reported at 2s, on trucks, for new' season’s Italian.

There is nothing tr< report in the parley and linseed lines.
