RESIGNATION OF CONSERVATIVE LEADER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cubit Association (Received October 12, 8.50 p.m.) OTTAWA, October 11. The Hon. Arthur Meighen officially tendered his resignation of tho Conservative leadership at the party caucus, attended by 200 leading members to-day. Mr Guthrie (Member for South Wellington) was appointed to act as leader in the House of Commons, until a successor to Mr Meighen had been chosen by the National Convention at the end of the Parliamentary session. Mr Guthrie has been a member since 1904. He was Solicitor-General in the Unionist Cabinet in 1907, Minister of Militia in 1920-21, and Minister of National Defence in tho late Meighen Administration.
