(Admiral fair Lionel Halsey, who has keen Comptroller and Treasurer to the Prince of Wales since 1920, and visited ■New Zealand with the Prince, is 54 .years of ago. Ho joined the Navy tn 11885, and served in'the defence of Ladysmith in the .South African War with ;such distinction, that he was specially promoted Commander. Ho was. advanced to the rank of Captain in 1905, ’Rear-Admiral in 1917, and Vice-Ad-miral in 1921. He commanded H.M.Si . New Zealand during its Empire cruise' in 1913, during the action in Heligoland Bight in 1914, and at the Dogger Bank in 1915. Ho served in H.M.S. Iron Duke at Jutland, and has been 3 Third-Sea Lord 5ince.1917.),,,
