A pnthotic story was told at Birmingham when James Albutt Was imprisoned for a month for declinim; to reveal the whereabouts of 1 lift cightcen-ycar-old daughter Violot, -who has been adjudged a montnlly defective. Sho left Liverpool asylum in April, on a week’s holiday to her parents, and did not return. The police have been baffled iii their efforts to trace her. Tho parents have been brought to tho Court several times, and three - times fined, but still remain silent. Tlie Magistrate’s final appeal left Albutt unmoved. The Magistrate : “Docs it mean you finally refuse to return tho girl.” Albutt: “Firaliy absolutely. Tho girl is mine, Wo want each other. She refuses to return to that institution. I’ll stand by her.’’ . ■ "When the decision was announced Albutt flung wide his arms: “Yoii lrnvi, power to do what you like with tne You’ll never have my child.”
