SCHOOL COMMITTEES
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the School Committees’ Association was held on Thursday evening. Present: — Messrs N. Anderson (president), Dr. Austin (vice-president), A. F. Boys (treasurer)', W. Gibb (lion, secretary), H. J. Brewer, J. C. Butcher and G. Benstcad. An apology’ was made for Mr T. Currie, who is absent from town. The president made feeling reference to the decease of Mr 1). Virtue (Into town clerk), and proposed that a latter of condolence he sent to file relatives. ’ This was agreed to hy these lire sent, standing in silence. The lion, secretaries of the Well.ngton and Canterbury Associations forwarded the annual reports of their respective associations. It was decided to recipro. cate. The president of the Timaru Head Masters’' Association wrote slat ing that his Association was still of opinion that a direct appeal to the parents was the host means of raising funds for the Dental Clinic and they wore prepared to assist in this direction. After discussion it was decided to hold a general meeting of the Association lo arrange for a concert in terms of the decision at the animal meeting.
A letter was received from the Canterbury Education Board advising the terms and conditions under which a subsidy might he available. The mouthy report of the Dental Nurses was received and. showed that since the installation of the Clinic 312 children had been treated, in varying forms of treatment. Appreciation was expressed of the good work being done. . The secretary reported having interviewed Hie Minister of Health with reference to the arrangements, and it was resolved to write to the Board and also ask the assistance of the Hon. F. -I. Rolleston in reference to tile application for subsidy on moneys raised. It was decided to open a hank uccount at tho Bank of New Zealand, to he operated by the president and treasurer. 'Various details in connection with the Dental Clinic were considered, and arrangements made for giving effect to same. The question of ropresontauun on the Canterbury Education Board was also discussed and finally left to bo dealt with at the general meeting.
