FOG IN SYDNEY.
HEAVIEST FOR MANY YEARS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian end N.Z. Cabin Association. SYDNEY, Juno 16. Tile heaviest fog experienced for some years descended upon Sydney and the harbour during the night, and within n. few minutes became so dense that all ferry services were disorganised, and with the exception of one or two all trips from Circular Quay were cuneelled. Hundreds of theatre goers and other residents of the northern suburbs were stranded on die wharves, waiting for the fog to lift, or for somo venturesome master to take a boat out. The vehicle ferries also censed running, and motorists had to make a long detour to cross the harbour. Shortly after mid-night the ferry for Wilson’s Point, with 1800 passenger!:, successfully made the trip. In the streets tram and vehicle traffic was impeded. The headlights of trams and motors could be picked out only a few yards nwnv. About 2 o’clock in tbe morning the fog lifted for half an hour, and then set! led down a gain, but not so thick as earlier in the night. Visibility at daybreak was about 200 yards. A. low ni'iior accidents are reported, and a ferry steamer ran on a reef in Neutral Rav. and damaged her rudder.
