STATEMENT BY FOREIGN MINISTER.

In the House of Commons, a number of questions were asked on. the subject of Anglo-Russian relations, .dud the alleged Soviet activities in Britain. Sir Austen Chamberlain (Minister of Foreign Affairs), replied that in the negotiations with the late Charge d'Affaires, 'he had been content generally to state tile policy of His Majesty’s Government, respecting antiBritish propaganda. He did not consider any useful purpose would bo sferved by detailed protests regarding particular incidents, but a few days ago, before going to Geneva, ho instructed His ■Majesty’s Charge d’Affaires in Moscow to inform tho Soviet that it was impossible for His Majesty’s Government to ignore the action of the Soviet Commissariat of Finance in specially authorising the transfer to Britain of funds destined for the support of an illegal, unconstitutional and general strike,, as not conducive to a friendly settlement of tho outstanding questions which tlio Soviet Government professed to desire, to settle.
