OBITUARY.
AIR. H. AV. HAY.
The death occurred in Timaru yesterday morning, at his homo in Sealey Street, of Mr IT. AA r . Hay; a. retired sheep-larmer, who came to live in 'Timaru about thirteen years ago. , The late Mr Hay was born near Dunedin, and received his secondary education at. the Otago Boys’ High School. He was a. son of the late Mr A. It, Hay, of AVoodlands. On leaving school, he worked on his lather’s farm in Otago for some time, and then became manager, at Gore, for AVright, Stephenson and Co. 'Tiling of commercial life, Mr Hay decided to go back to the land, and lie acquired a very fine sheep property at Mon. Flat. Otago, known as IJukeriiT Station. This lie farmed with success until thirteen-years ago, when lie sold his station to tho late Mr Kenneth. McLennan, and has lived in Timaru since. Although not able to go to the Great AA'ar, Mr Hay “did his bit” at home bv managing “The Cliffs” estate for the late Captain Arthur Rhodes, while the latter was at the war. Deceased was an active and very useful member of the South Canterbury Jockey Club, and was on tho committee of that body. ‘But his chief interest was in the land. lie was a pood judge of stock, and since his residence in Timaru had served as. a steward at the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s shows. He married Miss Downes, of Dunedin, and is survived by liis widow and three children, — two. daughters and a. son. 'File daughters are Aire Maurice Warren, Christchurch, and Airs Bruce Aiurray, Godley Peaks.
