MAY WEATHER.

RAINFALL RECORDS,

The following.are rainfall records for May in. different parts of South Canterbury : Mr D N. Harper, Park curator, reports The rainfall for the month was 3.18 in, the heaviest fall being 101 points on May 12. Mr G. C. Ellis, Kingsdown: The fall totalled 2.92 inches. Rain fell on 11 days, the maximum being 1.54 on May 12. For the corresponding period last year the fall was 1.47 in. Mr G. L. Twgptyman, Seadown: The fall for May was 3.05 in. Rain fell cn 14 days, the heaviest being 1.67 in on May 12. Mr It. T. Searles, Levels: Rain fell on 13 days last month, the' heaviest fall being 1.63 in on May 12. The total for the month was-1.79in. Mr P. R. Talbot, Claremont: The rainfall in May was 5.09 in. In May last year it was l.SOin, and in May, 1924, it was 1.39 inches. Mr James Bishop, Pleasant Point, Rain foil on 11 days in May, the heaviest fall being 1.62 in on May 12. Mr Bishop adds: The land lias been very wet most of the time, and wheatsowing has been hindered a great deal. Farmers are now hoping for fine, weather. Mr J. L. White, Winchester: The rainfall recorded at Winchester School during May totalled 4.50 in. Rain fell on 10 days, the heaviest fall being 18" points on May 12. [ Mr B. R. Macdonald, “Waitui,” I Geraldine : Rain fell on 17 days in May, (the total being 4f2oiru The heaviest ) fall for one day was 1.03 in, on May 21. The fall in May of last year totalled 3.l9iii. t Mr J. McCort. Limestone Valley, Albury: Rain fell on 10 days in May, the heaviest fall being on May 13, when 1.54 in fell. The total for the month, was 4.71 in. Mr A. J. Blakistou, Orari Gorge: ] The fall in May totalled 7.1 Oiu. There , were 14 days with rain, the maximum j fall being 1.94 in., on May 21. Tn j May, 1923, there were 18. days with rain, when 0.90 inches fell. _ 1 Mr M. G. Williams, Geraldine 1 Gowns: The rainfall in May totalled i 3.79 in. Rain fell on 14 days, the j heaviest being on May 21, when 108 points fell. The lowest shade temperature was registered on May 30, and the highest on May 9.
