CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS. Tho anniversary of tlie Timaru Congregational Church was celebrated with special services on Sunday last, when tliero were good congregations. Tho Rev. J. Dawson Maddl, M.A., of Geraldine, was tho preacher, and'his eloquent addresses were much appreciated. The choir, under Mr F. Metson (choirmaster), rendered anthems at each service very eilcctively, Mr H. J. Brunt presiding at tlie organ. The anniversary concert was held on Wednesday evening, the Rev. T. Wilson Potts presiding over a large attendance. A good musical programme was submitted, well received encores being numerous. Items were given by the following:—Piano so'os, Miss M. Tubb; ’cello solos, Mr Berryman; vocal solos, Mrs M. Higgins, Miss E. Jones, Miss N. Brchaut, and Mr W. B. Ramsay. The accompaniments were played by Mrs J. G. Rattray and Miss M. Tubb. The chairman, in an interesting address, detailed the work of various departments of the church, all of which showed signs of considerable activity. After the concert an excellent supper was dispensed by members of the Ladies’ Guild. An enthusiastic voto of thanks was accorded to all performers, and to the ladies who provided supper.
