Mr W. K. Virtue (Christchurch) came to Timaru yesterday. The Hon. James Oraigie, M.L.C., came to Timaru from Wellington yesterday. Mr R M. Virtue (Wellington) came io Timaru yesterday, ami will remain here over the week-end. A Press message from London says that Sir Francis Roil has been sworn-in as a member of the Privy Council. Mr J. T. Itoyds (Christchurch), president of the New Zealand Alliance, mis in Timaru yesterday. Mr James Muling came to Timaru by the express yesterday morning from Christchurch, _ and returned by the afternoon train. Mr F. E. Ward, 0.A.1L, who has been appointed Director of Agriculture for Tasmania, has left Christchurch and is now in Wellington, from which place lie will leave for Tasmania on June S. 'The Timaru branch of the Farmers’ Union, as r. mark of their appreciation of bis good work in South Canterbury, are forwarding to Mr Ward a. very fine silver-mounted walking-stick, suitably inscribed, and a pair of solid silver serviette rings, the latter for Mrs Ward.
