The general conference of the Metho'dist Church of Australasia passed a resolution appealing''to nil members of the national and local Governments to safeguard Sunday against all Unnecessary and harmful encroachments upon its distinctive character, in particular against the growing practice of opening shops, organising spurts, extending the amount of Sunday labour, and genera I'.V to co-operate with the efforts of thoughtful, conscientious citizens in the defence of the institutions which are of unique value and necessary for the spiritual and moral culture of mankind.

The conference also decided to send fraternal greetings to the Methodist Church in New Zealand, and other cuun tries.
