The vote of confidence of 313 to 147 in the Chamber of Deputies, has given the Government breathing space to continue the defence of the franc. Arising out of the Socialist demand for an immediate financial debate, M. Briand declared that a debate at present would be inopportune. The Government would submit its financial projects within one month. If the Government had not a sufficient majority it would resign. ' '
