TEMUKA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.); PRICSBYTERTAN CONCERT. On Friday evening the Dominion Theatre was completely filled, to hear the conceit in connection with the. Presbyterian Sabbath School. Tho first portion of the programme was given bv tho Sunday School scholars, and the dainty dresses, and beautifully decorated stage, presented a beautiful spectacle. The items by Myra Hope, Olga AleFarlane, Doreen Gibb, Margaret Lo Fuller, and 'Tom Hart, were well received, but perhaps “Ten Little Nigger Boys” was the gem of tho first ]);]rfc. The second part was opened with a pianoforte duet by Alis-sos AfeCallum and Aleck, after which Miss Agnes Smith sang “Annie Laurie,” and had to respond to an imperative encore. The Alisses Pearee, pianist and flautist, were heartily applauded for their two items, and Miss Eva Alathieson, • a young singer, was given a. flattering reception for her two numbers, “Little Brown Bird” and “I Passed by Your Window.” Aliss Stella Goodman gave a very pleasing rendering ol “Itasca,” and had to respond to an encore. Airs L. ’Talbot’s well-trainee voice was liqad to advantage in “A Song of Thanksgiving,” and Aliss AlcCarthy’s violin solos showed that she has more than an ordinary knowledge of that most impressive instrument. As a monologuist and ranoonteur, Mr R. Malcolm has no compeer, and his four items were vociferously app’auded. Mr Eh J. Chapman made liis debut to a, Temuka audience, and bis rendering of “Beloved, Tt Is Morn,” greatly pleased. Accompaniments were played by Mrs A. S. Alelnnes, Aliss T. AlcCallum, Miss Alona Evans, and Airs Fell.

The Rev. H. R. Fell thanked Air A. J. Davev, superintendent of the Sunday School, Airs IT. R. Fell, Aliss Alona Evans, and Atiss Marion Tvcraeh. who trained the children; Air J. L. White, for his assistance in the organisation, and all those who in any way contributed to tho great success of the concert.

PERSONAL. Air W. AL Cottcrill (Temuka), returned from the Exhibition yesterday. The Mayor and Alayoress (Mr and Airs G. B. Cartwright), Air and Airs Ti Gunnion, and Airs Clements, motored home from Dunedin during tho week end. The Mayor again approached Captain Anderson, who is in charge of the Highlanders Band, regarding a, visit being paid to Temuka, but was told that it was impossible to add to the itinerary which was a'ready mapped out. “THE LITTLE GIAN.T” TO-NIGHT. Glenn Hunter and Edna Alurray are the stars in tho Universal Picture “The Little Giant,” io be screened at Tcnmka to-night. This is a very human drama, adapted from the story “Once a Peddler,” and concerns an egotistical youth who got the idea that lie was a, Napoleon of tho business world, and too good to associate with the- old man who had been his benefactor from babyhood. The characters are very real, and provide plenty of entertainment. Good supporting pictures will also be screened. “RIP VAN AVINKLE.” In the Dominion Theatre to-morrow night, Air G. R. AL Jones and his splendid supporting Timaru company will stage “Rip Vim AVink'c,” which is regarded as one of the finest amateur productions staged in South Canterbury for many years. The entire company of sixty performers, with the full orchestra, scenic and lighting effects, as given in Timaru, will visit Temuka. Every available seat in the circle has been booked, and the stalls are filling rapidly. Ticket holders who have, not booked, arc requested to be in their seats not later than 7.45.
