In the Assembly, when the Defence vote was under consideration, Colonel Crcswell outlined the proposed changes in the defence force, whicJi aimed at an air force that could striko anywhere, practically any enemy gathering within the Union, and in. addition the certainty of mobilising 10,000 men, to concentrate within 72 to 96 hours, within measurable distance of the enemy, with an additional 15,000 equipped and able to take the field. Tlie conception of active citizen force units not being suited to country districts, there will ho a development of the commando system in those districts, in the direction of a more regimented and more disciplined organisation.
