PURCHASE BY BRITISH INTERESTS.

Negotiations for tho sale of the While Star Line fleet by tho International Mercantile Marine Company, to the Furness, Withy Company, ami the Morgan, Grenfell Company, were competed-in London to-day, according to private cables received here.
(A cablegram received yesterday paid:—The famous White Star Fleet ot trans-Atlantic passenger ITi.crs, including the Majestic, the world's largest ship, will probably pass to the control of British interests, who have submitted'an offer lor the Line to the International Mercantile Corporation. Th© transaction will involve approximately 35,000,000 dollars, and will eventually place t'liG White Star Line under the operation nf the Ounard Line, although Furness-Witliy interests are a'so reported to he luddcrx. 7'he final approval of .the deal is expected to bo announced next week in London.)
