Mr Justice Reed at the Supreme Court, sentenced prisoners as under: — Leslie Albert Bhicher (18), theft of a motor eye'e at Palmerston North, three years’ reformative detention. Micluie-1 Patrick Somers (19), theft from a dwelling at Palmerston North, two years’ probation. Arthur Ciyburn (42). obtaining £2ti by valueless cheques at Auckland and £2O at Nelson, five years ago, three v-mrs' -un'-atum. restilullon of £4O to be made at the rate, of 10s weekly.' William Cliff-::rd Balhnn (19). obtaining £ll 10s and £ls at Palmerston North by valueless cheques, three voavs’ probation, with special conditions and restitution to be made. CROSS - ACTIONS FOR DAMAGES By Telegraph—Press Association HAMILTON, March 30. In the Supreme Court, an action was heard to-day In which Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, claimed £IOOO damages against English and Luxford, farmer creditors to the company, for alleged breach of contract. Defendants counter-claimed for £IOOO for alleged breach of the said contract. The action arose out of a former action for alleged defamation by English and Luxford against Fulton, which was settled before coming to Court. A term of the settlement was that there would he no publication of the terms of settlement other than an agreed upon statement. English and Luxford caused to lie published, however, a paragraph setting out the alleged terms, which was followed h.v a published denial, and correction by Fulton. After hearing evidence to-day Air Justice Ostler reserved decision.
