Mrs J. C. Oddie, LeCren Street, left oil Monday for Dunedin. Mrs T. W. Taylor, Otipua, is visiting friends in Cromwell. Miss L. Cartwright, Highfield, is back from Dunedin. Mr and Mrs H. A. LeCren, and Miss Eileen LeCren, Fail-lie, are staying at the Grosvenor Hotel. Mrs Elmslie who was the guest of Mrs Cossins, “Andraguere,” Wni-iti Road, left yesterday for Christchurch. Mrs C. E. Thomas, Hampton House, LeCrcn’s Tern ce, has returned from a fortnight in Dunedin. Mrs Howley, Sefton Street, who was staying at “Te Kitcroa,” Waimate, has gone on to Dunedin. Mrs and Miss Elworthy, LeCren’s Terrace, have returned from a visit to Dunedin. Mr William Evans, North Street, and Misses A. and F. Evans, Christchurch, left on Monday for Dunedin. Miss Moira Rickman, Church Street West, returned on Saturday from Dunedin.

Dr. Hassell and Miss Dorothy Davis are expected from Wellington this week on a visit to Timaru. ‘ Mrs A. A. Scott, Miss Wilson, and Miss E. Wilkin, returned to Timaru from Dunedin on Saturday. Miss Nettie Hewland, who was with Miss Alice Thomson, Highfield, went back to Christchurch on Saturday.

Mrs Henry Harper, who was in Christchurch, has returned to “Grassy dills,” Waitaki. Miss A’Court and Mrs Wilcox and daughter, of Christchurch, are the guests of Mrs T. Sheen, Temuka. Mrs Huddlestone, Avenue Road, lias gone into her new home, “Croomlea,” North Street. Mr and Mrs G. P. Wood, and Miss Olwyn Wood, Wai-iti Road, have returned from a short visit to Dunedin. Mrs Esme Shand, Kaikoura, who was staying with her sister, Mrs C. A. Paterson, Sefton Street, left yesterday for the north. Miss Olive Turton, Wellington, who was staying at “Oakwood,” with Mrs Gladstone Robinson, is now with Mrs Cossins, Wai-iti Road. Mrs Wolsey Kain, Raukaptika, who was the guest of Mrs Melville Jameson, “Otumarnma,” has returned to Geraldine. Mi- and Mrs K. M’Lcnnan, Miss F. M’Lean, Wai-iti Road, and Miss Joyce Scott, Cannington, motored back .from Heriot on Saturday. Messrs A. Dale, J. M. Burt, L. and A. S. Loonies have returned to Fail-lie after an enjoyable trip to the Dunedin Exhibition. Mr and Mrs Fred Congreve, and Miss Dorothy Congreve of Greymouth, leave Timaru to-day on their return home.

Mr and Mrs James Maddren, Christchurch, who have been staying with Mrs R. Maddren, Winchester, left for home yesterday. Mr and Mrs L. H. Orbell, Winchester, motored to Akaroa on Monday, where they will be the guests of Mrs J. C. Buckland.

Miss Margaret Ormond, Waipukurau, who was the guest of Mrs Hope, “Tumanako,” Wai-iti Road, left on Monday on a visit to Mrs Huyslie Elliott, Roxburgh. Dr. B. Stewart Underhill, and the Misses Margorie and Daphne Underhill, England, who spent a few days in Timaru, on their way back from Dunedin, left yesterday for Rotorua. Miss Priscilla Pyke left by second express south (Monday) on a visit to the Dunedin Exhibition. During her stay there she will be the guest of Mrs L. Mclnnes, St. Clair. An enjoyable afternoon was given by Miss Amy Nevill Smith and her istudents to Miss Grace Scott, whoso wedding takes place shortly. Before tea Miss Scott was presented with a irry of handkerchiefs, the gift of her fellow students. During the afternoon a guessing competition caused plenty of amusement, the prize being won by Clarence- Pateman, the youngest student.

A very pleasant evening was spent recently at the residence of Mr F. H. C. Martin, when the members of the St. Colombo .Choir, Fnirlie, gathered to farewell one of their number, Miss Sylvia Bolden, whose marriage will shortly take place. The time was onjo.vably spent in games and competitions interspersed with musical items ; those contributing being Misses Trotter, Burt and Martin, and Messrs Shanks and Martin. In handing the guest of the evening a handsome copper palm bowl, the choir master, Mr Martin, made eulogistic reference to Miss Bolden’s services to the choir, and expressed their best wishes for her future happiness. This was endorsed llev. C. G. Wilcox, and Miss Bolden in a happy «!*iech made reply. The singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a very enjoyable function to a close.
