WEDDINGS.
SUTHERLAND—SOUTH. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at the Presbyterian Clinch, (Geraldine, when Marjory, eldest daughter of Mr and .Mrs John South, “Croughton,” Orari Bridge, was married to James, second youngest son of Mr and Mrs Sutherland, Geraldine. The Rov. J. D. Madill pertormed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her lather, wore a irock of creme satin marocain, with panels of accordeou pleated georgette,- caught at the waist with a spray of orange blossom and embroidered with crystal beads and pearls. Her veil was arranged in mop cap style, with a wreath of orango blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of roses and street peas with maiden hair fern. .The bride was attended by her sister Miss Marion South, who wore a frock of mauve georgette over satin, made apron style and trimmed with silver lace, and a hair band of small mauve flowers with tulle streamers. She carried a bouquet of mauve asters and street peas. Both wore silver shoes. Mr Leslie Sutherland of Christchurch,nephew of the bridegroom, performed the duties of best man. The bride’s travelling; dress was a brown costume with hat to match and a fox fur. GRANT—SYMES. A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Columba Church, Fail-lie, on Wednesday, February 17th, when Miss Constance Isobel Syrnes, daughter of Mrs G. M. Symes, Ashtvick Flat, was married to Mr Donald Grant, son cf Mr and Mrs A. Grant, Ross Shire, Scotland. The officiating minister was the Rev. A. 1L Chisholm, and the church was pretttil.v decorated for the occasion. The bride, who was given awav bv her bwtlier, Mr A. H. Symes, wore a'daiiitv'frock of white crepe do chine. Her'tulle veil was arranged with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet. Miss Mary McGregor, who was bridesmaid, wore a frock of rose pink crepe do chine, with a circlet of shaded leaves in her hair, and she carried a bouquet of pink flowers. Mr Willie McKenzie was best man. After the ceremony Mrs Symes received her guests wearing a smart grey frock and Mack hat, and entertained them at Harper’s tea rooms. - Later Mr. and Mrs Donald Grant left for Dunedin. BRAGG—HILLARY. A very pretty wedding was solemnised recently at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Timaru, by the Rev. Archdeacon .Julius, when Margery Lilias, elder daughter of Mrs ana the late Naylor Hillary, of Timaru, was married to Percy Samuel Thomas, only son of Mr and Mrs Bragg, of Staffordshire, England. Entering the church on tho arm of her brother, who subsequently gave her away, the bride wore a dainty frock of brocade duchess satin cut on simple lines, with open sleeves and caught at the wrist with a band of pearls. Her dainty veil of soit> tulle was arranged with a coronet of pearls finished with a spray of orange blossom. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of asters, roses and maiden hair fern. The bride was i attended by her cousin, Miss Barbara Hillary, of Christchurch,, who wore ! apricot crepe de chine with Oriental trimmings. On her hair was arranged a coronet of silver and autumn leaves with touches of autumn tints in her i bouquet to tone. Miss Gwen Hillary, j sister of flic bride, made a dainty little flower girl, being dressed in lavender crepe de chine with touches of silver and a coronet of mauve and silver leaves. Mr C. Rawstorn attended I the bridegroom as best man. After the ceremony the bride’s mother entertained relatives a d friends at her residence, “BrnenmiHouse,” which was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, a large hell adorning the centre of the room.
Later Air and Alls P. Bragg Ihft, amidst .showers of confetti and good wishes for the south, where their honeymoon was spent. The bride's travelling frock was of navy blue repo with knife pleated apron front and touches of'fawn. Smart close fitting liat en suite.
