In the rinks competition three rounds of postsection play were decided. There were 17 rinks left at the close of section play, but after to-day’s games the number was reduced to nine. Postsection play is decided on the two-life system, and at present there are three rinks—Casey (Carlton), Thomson (Invercargill), and Gray (Kolburn) with two lives, and six—Stewart (Dunedin), Hutchison (Dunedin), Wright (St. Heliers), Gibson (Taien;, Malcolm (Balniacowan), and Harraway (Dunedin)—with onei lifo. ■ Pilkington, whose rink won the championship last year, went out in tho third round of tho post-section play. In the first round of post-section play in the rinks, Harraway (Dunedin) met Gray (Kelburn). With 14 ends decided, Gray was leading by 14 to 11. The' time limit expired at the 18th head, and Gray secured a win by 16 to 13. , ■ Pilkington (Hamilton) opened with a single against Anderson (Ros’yn). ’J’he Hamilton men were 12 points up with 12 heads played. In the next eight heads Anderson did most of the scoring, but ho oould not catch his opponent, who won by 22 to 13 on the 20th head.

In the first seven heads Harraway ran away from Anderson, and was leading by 17 points to 0 when seven heads had been played. Anderson scored on five heads out of the next seven, but after 14 heads lie was still nine down. A five, three, and a single to Harraway put the issue beyond reasonable doubt, and the Dunedin rink finished 28-18. A five and a tlm% to Casey in tho first two ends, and a five on the fourth put him in a strong position against Benefield. With seven heads played Casey lead by 17 points to 2. and Casev ran out an easy winner by 27 to 19.

With seven heads played, Thomson led Pilkington by seven points to four, but a four and a two put Pilkington in, the lead by 10 points to 7.. On the next six heads Thomson did all the scoring, and when 15 ends hf.d been decided he was leading by 17 to 10. Pilkington reduced the gap but Thomson won by 21 points to 17. Wright opened well agaimt. Gray, leading 6-0 and 9-1 after seven heads. Gray then scored 4,3, 2,3, to go into the lead 13-9. Harraway always had the game in hand, leading 12-1 after six heads. 19-5 after 14, and lie eventually won by 23 to 14. In the tie between Hutchison and Casey, the latter was always in charge, and won well by 24 to 18. Wright .(St. Heliers) and Pilkington (Hamilton) provided an excising finish, the rinks ticing on the last head, and necessitating the playing of an extra head. In tho extra head there was some fine bowling, and Pilking was lying one after playing his last bowl. Wright-, with a magnificent shot, took this bowl out to score one, and won 22-21. A few games were played in the championship pairs competition, but. this event has been hold up on account of some of the nhimys still left in it being engaged in the championship rinks. Six games have still be to. played before all the green winners are found, but throe of these will be decided to-morrow morning. Some of the post-section games have been decided, and already Adoss (St. Kilda) and Tamblyn (St. Kilda) are assured of being in the last four. In the last game, between Dec and Chegwin, the former’s lead turned up the kitty for the. last head, but Chegwin contended that the head was too short. The green umpire decided that the mat should be. shifted back, and that this made the head long enough. Chegwin protested on, the ground that the kitty should have been returned, and should have been re-thrown by his lead. His protest has been uplie'd, and it has been derided that the last head shall be rc-plaved. This will be decided at 8.45 to-morrow morning on the Caledonian green. SECTION WINNERS—PAIRS.
