Tho “Economist” computes that the profits of 1490 British joint stock companies, for the three months, averaged 12 per cent., an increase of 50 per cent, over 1922. The “Daily Express” declares that there is no excuse for pessimists here or abroad, describing as “finished” the nation whose trade has reached the colossal figure of two billions sterling annually.
