Tri the Sheffield Shield match Victoria lost if wickets for 372 runs (WoodfulL not out 208, Hendry 39, Ryder not out 0(3), when stumps were drawn. The weather was fine and cool and tho wicket good. Victoria fought desperately, and runs came slowly, the batsmen taking no chances against the excellent bowling. When Cooper came in only four runs were wanted, and Jie hit a couple, and with one wanted Sneddon hanged Douglas to the boundary. Auckland won by 5 wickets and 3 runs.
