Erskine lost the exchange, and later Crakunthorp gave back the exchange to force a mate, i Dunlop v. Anderson (Sicilian j defence). —Anderson transposed a move | early in the opening, and this gave j Dunlop an advantage to stave off tho ; attack. Anderson gave_ up the t exchange of a rook for a bishop, and I a great struggle eusued. Dunlop won eventually. Barnes v. Stenhouso (Queens counter game).—Stenhouso has won the exchange of rook for bishop and pawn, but tho game is unfinished. Tho position now stands as under: — Crackanthorp 5) wins, Barnes 35, Dunlop 4, Stenhouso 3, Moir 3, Erskine li, Pihl IJ, Anderson 1. "Barnes v. Stenhouso is unfinished. CONSOLATION SECTION. In round 2, Kelling v. Miller, Kelling’s sealed move lost him a rook, and he resigned without further play. Hound 3. —Purdy defeated Kelling; Davies v. Millar (unfinished) ; E. E. Hicks v.
