ATTACKS ON DAMASCUS FEARED. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association LONDON, December 20. The French apparently still fear further attacks on Damascus. It is stated that it is proposed to surround the city with a series of blockhouses connected with barbed wire, whereby it is hoped to prevent raids trom without and make it impossible ■for tho rebels to take refuge in the city, and emerge later therefrom at their sweet will as hitherto. The scheme is already being put into operation.
