TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
MEETING OF MANAGERS. Tho monthly meeting of tho Board of Managers of the Tnnaru Technical School was held -on Friday night. Present—]\lr G. J. Sealey (chairman), aiessrs A. Stead, E. W. Jones, C. \V. Wood, H. R. Harris, J. Gliddon, and J. G. Gow. . Tho Canterbury Shoepowners’ Union wrote advising that eighteen pupils had been put through tho blade-shear-ing class this year, and had done good work. A cheque for £l2 the usual donation, would probably bo sent at a future date. Tiie chairman said the judge of the class CMr J. Waddell) had made very complimentary references in regard' to the work done by tho class, tho members of which had all turned out competent shearers. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Waddell for acting as judge. The difcctor said lie understood that they would have £7O in donations the way of amusement, while the girls shovtlj’, and as tho boys had little in had a tennis court, ho thought it would be advisable to erect a fives court for the use of the boys. Mr Stead moved: “That the director make application to tho Department with a view to obtaining a subsidy for the proposed fives court. Tins was carried. cr-ou nts amounting to £Ol 8s 9d r, passed for payment.
