The French Consul-General has returned from a visit to the New Hebrides. He emphasised the cordial relations that existed between the British and French Colonists. He said there was no foundation whatever for the belief that the Condominium did not work smoothly. He stated that-the French, formed 40 per cent, and the English 20 per cent, of the colonists there. For over a year the tribunal of the Condominium had been. unable to; funct'on owing to the absence ot Signor Conde de Buena Esperanza, the Spaniard, who was appointed President. It was hoped that he would arrive shortly.
