(From Our Own Correspondent.) CARD TOURNAMENT. The ninth, night of the card tournament will be played in the Oddfellows Hall, King Street, at 7.30 p.m. this (Friday) evening, when, tho Druids meet the Oddfellows, and tho Hibernians ..the Citizens. The teams are as follows: — Druids. —J. Fishor, H. Clinch, W. Husband, Z. Hay, B. Beck, F. TVilliams, W. Goodman, S. Higinbottom, W. Frisby, R. Jamieson, B. Hope, J. Pierce. Oddfellows. —J. K. Young, J. Prattley, A- Young, W. Knight, H. Harrison, \V. Gaby, W. Berry, G. Harris, J. Davis, B. McLaclilan, W. Blared, W. King.
Citizens. —Abbatt, Scrimshaw. McDonald, Carpenter, Sbiels, Smitn,. Surridge, Berry, Joynt, Levens, Pierce, Lnwry.
Hibernians. —Horgan, Spillane, Brosnnlian (2), Hally, Dwyer, Brophy, McGarva. Connolly, Sullivan, Farrell, Fitzgerald.
GOLF CLUB. On Saturday last a qualifying round for the senior and junior championships, together with a medal competition, was played. A large number of players took part. Afternoon tea, much appreciated by all the players, was provided by Mrs Aslnvell. The modal competitions were won by Miss Taylor and Mr W. Pearse. Those who qualified for the senior championship were, as follows :• —\Y r . Pearse, W. McLeod, L. Grant, T. Edwards, W. Hughes, It. Pearse, R. Malcolm, W. Carpenter, and R. Smith; while for tho junior championship, only Miss Taylor and Mrs D. Grant qualified. Any player (Thursday players included) who did not play on Saturday, may play a qualifying round any time before August Ist. On Saturday next a friendly match will bo played on the Temuka links against 10 men and 8 ladies from the North End Club, commencing at 1.30 p.m., sharp. Ladies.—Mrs L. Grant, Sirs Guild, Mrs D. Grant, Miss Guild, Miss Scrimshaw. Miss Twomey, Bliss E. Bremner, and Mrs W. Pearse.
Men. —W r . Hughes, W. Pearse, J. Smart, R. Pearse, O. Stephens, R. Smith, R. Malcolm, T. Edwards, W. Carpenter, R. Edwards, and F. Franklin (emergency).
POULTRY AND WINTER SHOW. The annual Poultry, and Winter Shqw will be held in the Drill Hall today (Friday) and Saturday. The entries are large, greatly exceeding those of last year, and exhibits are coming from all parts of the South Island. A number of South Island championships aro included in the catalogue, and the exhibits ill these classes will have a special interest for poultry fanciers. Ilia doors will be open to the public about 1 o’clock, and the official opening by tho Mayor will take place at 7.30.
NOTES. Mr A. H. Fenn will hold his usual salo of poultry, furniture, produce, etc., at tho Rialto, Temuka, to-morrow (Saturday).
