HARE DRIVE.
AT EANGITATA Tho I’a.ngitata Island Miniature Rifle Club held their annual hare drive on a recent Saturday. .It had boon arranged to -bold it earlier m the week but owing to so much wet weather it wa.s postponed until the Saturday, which day, however, did not show promise of being very line. Consequently a late start was made with the first drive, which started Irom Mr J. AVright’s road on the 'Dip road. Koine 20 sportsmen with guns hnu a verv exciting day, at the close of which the satisfactory bag of 108 hares were collected. Messrs Frank Ruddenklau and 'Buck Bros, with sprinp cart and waggonettes, and Mr R. Brod.o witn motor lorry, assisted greatly m convevino- the men to dulcrcnt parU ol the island, and camming the hares. At mid-day all met at- Messrs Hearn Bi °s. woolshed. where a splendid lunch vas provided and served by the ladies of the island, to which full justice was done bv the hungry hunters.
