A GIANT MOA.
PERFECT SKELETON FOUND,

PALMERSTON N., July 21
A Government electrical engineer and the. Acclimatisation Society's ranger relate tho discovery of a magnificent moa skeleton at Waikaremoana. They were, exploring ,n route for high tension wires last week, and came upon a ravine, into which access could only bo gained bv ropes. In a dry cave, which had heoil blocked by a huge boulder, the explorers found a splendidly preserved skeleton, which, when assembled, will show the bird’s height to hgvo been 12lt din. The head'alone lias decayed. The discoverers surrounded the announcement of the find with much humorous detail, attaching a uig's skull in' place of the missing head, thereby mvstifving ain/iteur ornithologists. This valuable and interesting.specimen is now safely transported to Wa.iroa.
